Telephone Appeal

We are not currently running a telphone appeal. In March 2021 we are contacting some of our supporters by telephone (using the number 0117 325 4846) to ask them to consider giving by Direct Debit or increasing their existing Direct Debit.

 

Regular gifts help to fund vital work across the UK, from support services for those most in need, to innovative research. The Trust is committed to funding long term research and are grateful to all of our supporters.

  • Why are you carrying out a telephone appeal?

    Our supporters who donate by Direct Debit provide a steady income, enabling us to continue our vital work in ensuring everyone with cystic fibrosis (CF) has access to life-saving medicines.

    We will be speaking to supporters about how their donations could help continue our crucial CF research. As we had to cut our research funding last year due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, it’s more important than ever for us to be able to fund life-changing research for everyone with cystic fibrosis.

  • Will a telephone agency be used?

Using an agency allows us to contact thousands of our supporters in a short space of time at a low cost, which makes this a very cost-effective way of fundraising.

    We take the utmost care to make sure all our agency fundraisers are trained to be as knowledgeable as possible and understand the work that we do.

    We also go to great lengths to ensure that the fundraisers are professional ambassadors for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. We are proud of the quality of their calls, and the enthusiasm they demonstrate for the cause.

  • Are the telephone agency fundraisers paid?

    Yes, our professional fundraisers are paid a wage to fundraise on our behalf. They are always paid a set hourly rate, and do not work on a commission model. Ethicall do this to ensure that the telephone fundraisers are motivated by our cause and not by the monetary incentives.

  • How much money will you raise?

    We are hoping to raise more than £20,000 through our telephone fundraising in the next four years; £25,000 including Gift Aid.

  • What if I don't want to be called or have other questions/comments?

    If you don't wish to be called or you have other questions or comments about our telephone appeal you can email our Supporter Care team or call 020 3795 2177.

    All of our fundraisers fully understand the importance of not being too pushy on the telephone. If a donor says they are too busy to talk, the fundraiser will immediately end the call or arrange a more convenient time to call back. They will also note if you do not want to be contacted in a telephone appeal again in the future.

  • What if I have been called and I wish to make a complaint?

    We aim to ensure that all our calls are positive experiences for our supporters. However, if you do have a complaint you can email us at complaints@cysticfibrosis.org.uk or write to us at:

  • Why do you collect bank details?

    Giving by Direct Debit is the most effective way of donating regularly and requires supporters to provide us with the same bank details that can be found on a cheque (sort code and account number). These details can only be used to pay money into your account, or to set up a Direct Debit, which can only be done by authorised organisations.

    If you set up a Direct Debit with us, you will receive written confirmation which will include a copy of the Direct Debit Guarantee and our contact details. You will then get a ten working day cooling off period to cancel your Direct Debit, or you can cancel your Direct Debit with us at a later date by contacting our Supporter Care Team.

  • Who are you calling?

    We call existing contacts of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, based on their previous supporter relationship with us.

    You may be called if you:

    • have an existing regular gift
    • gave regularly to us in the past
    • have given to an appeal or raffle in the past
    • have carried out fundraising for us
    • have campaigned for us

    Our fundraisers are trained to end the call immediately if it becomes apparent that the person they are calling is going through a difficult time, or if they are not happy to continue with the call.

  • What if I need support?

    If you have cystic fibrosis or a close connection to cystic fibrosis and you want support please contact our Helpline (see our opening times here) on 0300 373 1000 or by emailing helpline@cysticfibrosis.org.uk. Our fundraisers will direct people to the helpline and our website if they need support.
