What could your personal best achieve?

Last year, Team CF raised over £2.5 million through events and community fundraising. This outstanding amount is enough to fund three of our Strategic Research Centres, which undertake cutting-edge research into areas of CF care and treatment like eradicating Mycobacterium abscessus, investigating CF-related diabetes and restoring fluidity in the gut to improve digestion. All of these projects, and the rest of our work go a huge way to improving the lives of people with CF and their families. Will you help to make 2018 the year we step even closer to a life unlimited by cystic fibrosis?

Natalie's story

"When I was a child, they told me it was asthma. They told me to avoid exercise, not to push myself. When I was 28 and pregnant, they told me my son Preston had cystic fibrosis - and so did I! That's when I told myself, 'you've got two choices - give up or give it everything.' No contest.

"I remember my first personal best – running 5k without stopping. Then came a few more, and a 10k. Every run forced me to push myself – to keep challenging what I thought were my limits. In 2016 I battled through Mycobacterium abscessus and I ran my first half marathon – the ultimate challenge. Or so I thought.

"In 2017, I ran my first marathon! The odds are there to be beaten, and I even beat my target time. These little CF lungs did me proud! From day one of my training to crossing that finish line has been about realising anything is possible. Choose what your best is and chase that dream."
