Strong Beginnings is a series of free online events for parents and carers of babies and young children with CF (aged up to 6 years). Find out more about how you can get involved!
These online events are an opportunity for families with young children aged 0 to 6 with CF to connect with each other, in a supportive and understanding environment. We use the video calling platform Zoom to bring you together safely, and from the comfort of your own home.
This is a new area for us, so we are really interested to hear what you think of the events and would love to hear from you if you have any ideas for events to run in the future. Please email [email protected] with any questions, suggestions or to find out more and sign up!
11 and 18 March at 7:30pm – Tree of Life: peer support for parents and carers of babies with CF in their first year.
When CF arrives in your life, it can bring many challenges that disconnect you from your unique and beautiful experiences, skills and abilities. The Tree of Life group is a creative way of reconnecting you with your identity and sense of who you are as a parent.
The group will be online with other parents who have recently received a diagnosis of CF for their child. In the first session, we will each draw our Tree of Life (don’t worry – no artistic skills are required). Your tree will represent your values, experiences, skills, knowledge, hopes and dreams, support networks, and gifts.
Our second session will explore some challenges and how you can cope with change. There will be space to learn from others and your ideas.
A parents who came to the last session said: “We are constantly on a treadmill and I didn’t realise how much I needed the emotional support. Last week we were both laughing after the session and we realised that we both felt lighter”
23 March at 9:30am – Yoga for parents, carers and babies (ages 0-1
23 March at 10.45am - Yoga for parents, carers and toddlers (ages 2-6)
Yoga will be run by a CF psychologist (the lovely Jo) and will focus on the connection between parent and child through activities and movements. There will also be some sharing and discussion of feelings for both parents and children.
25 March at 7.30pm - Ask YAG parents' event
Our Youth Advisory Group join us as a panel of CF experts! These teenagers and young adults either have CF themselves or have a brother or sister with the condition. They are kindly giving their time to get together to answer your questions and share their words of wisdom. Please send us your questions in advance ([email protected] ) so that the young people have time to prepare!
Download our festival planning information, which is full of loads of great tips for making sure you have the best time possible.
