Cystic fibrosis care

It is vital that people with cystic fibrosis (CF) receive appropriate healthcare and advice on how to stay healthy to ensure that they live longer and happier lives.

People with cystic fibrosis should be cared for by a multidisciplinary team of specialist doctors, nurses and allied health professionals at a recognised specialist cystic fibrosis centre, as set out in our nationally recognised standards of care. That is why we work with NHS commissioning bodies in the four UK nations to try and make sure that everyone with cystic fibrosis is registered with a designated properly resourced specialist cystic fibrosis service.

Children will receive either full care from a specialist paediatric cystic fibrosis centre or shared care within an agreed, designated network. Due to the increasing complexity of cystic fibrosis in adulthood, full care should be delivered by a specialist adult cystic fibrosis centre.

Activity unlimited!

Staying active is a great way to make sure you're in top shape to overcome all of the challenges that cystic fibrosis can throw at you. Activity doesn't have to mean sports - it can be anything that gets you moving around or breathing deeply, from singing to tai chi. Check out our tips and ideas for people of all ages!
