Communications Officer

~ £30,000

Full time position based in Aldgate, London

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is fighting for a life unlimited for everyone affected by cystic fibrosis. Our mission is to create a world where being born with cystic fibrosis no longer carries a death sentence, when everyone living with the condition will be able to look forward to a long, healthy life.

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust has a fundamental story to tell, a story of a devastating genetic condition and the fight to lift the death sentence people with cystic fibrosis are currently born under. It’s the story of a mission to create a new future where everyone with cystic fibrosis can live a life unlimited by their condition.

The charity is at an exciting time as we prepare to take our fight further and wider than ever before. We’re campaigning to put cystic fibrosis on the government agenda and to raise awareness of cystic fibrosis around the country on a local and national level.

This is your chance to be part of the media team that will deliver real impact for people with a life-shortening condition. We’re looking for someone who’s not afraid to push the boundaries with old and new communication channels, embraces change and is happy to explore new ways of communicating. We’re looking for someone who understands the challenges of rare medical conditions, the charitable landscape and the shift in the media industry and is willing to explore new ways of engaging our audiences.

You will have a track record of generating national media coverage and experience working across a range of media outlets. You will have demonstrable experience working in a busy press office - successfully promoting stories to national and regional journalists but also across social media and community engagement.

If this is for you, we would love to hear from you. Take a look at the full job description, complete the application form and equal opportunities form, and send your CV and a covering letter detailing your relevant experience to recruitment@cysticfibrosis.org.uk. The equal opportunities form will be separated from your application form prior to the selection process. The information you provide will be treated as sensitive data under the Data Protection Act 1998. Your assistance is appreciated.

Closing date for completed applications is Friday 27 April 2018. Interviews will take place the second week in May.
