Cystic Fibrosis Trust

Public Affairs Officer - Wales

Initially a fixed term contract for six months

Circa £25,000 plus benefits and flexible working

Based in Aldgate, Central London or could be home based in Wales

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust has a fundamental story to tell, a story of a devastating genetic condition and the fight to lift the limits people with cystic fibrosis (CF) currently face. It’s the story of a mission to create a new future where everyone with cystic fibrosis can live a life unlimited by their condition.

The charity is at an exciting time as we prepare to take our fight further and wider than ever before. We’re campaigning to put cystic fibrosis on the government agenda and to raise awareness of CF around the country on a local and national level.

We are looking for someone to influence politics and policies to improve the lives of people with CF and ensure they receive the treatments and support they need. While mainly focused on Wales, you will also work as part of the wider Public Affairs Team that covers each of the four UK nations.

You will inform decision-makers about the impact of CF and build the profile of the work the Trust is doing to beat the condition; drive the needs of people with CF up the political agenda, develop relationships with politicians and policy-makers and provide briefings and undertake proactive campaigning work in support of the Trust’s strategic priorities.

With demonstrable political experience and a working knowledge of the Welsh Assembly you will have a broad understanding of health policy and issues that affect people living with cystic fibrosis. Your well-developed interest in policy and public affairs and strong influencing skills will enable you to manage and build key stakeholder relationships.

This role offers the opportunity to divide your work between home and our head office based in Aldgate, Central London. There may, on rare occasions, also be the need to attend some meetings UK-wide.

If this is for you we would love to hear from you. Take a look at the full job description, complete the application form and equal opportunities form, and send your CV and a covering letter detailing your relevant experience to recruitment@cysticfibrosis.org.uk. The equal opportunities form will be separated from your application form prior to the selection process. The information you provide will be treated as sensitive data under the Data Protection Act 1998. Your assistance is appreciated.

Closing date for applications is 3 November 2017 with interviews to be held in Aldgate, London on 14 November 2017.
