Cystic Fibrosis Trust responds to Chief Medical Officer's Health in Cities report
David Ramsden, Cystic Fibrosis Trust Chief Executive: “We are pleased to see the Chief Medical Officer particularly highlight air pollution as an area that needs addressing in his annual Health in Cities report. Poor air quality continues to be the biggest environmental risk to public health and those who are already vulnerable, like people with cystic fibrosis, are most affected. Our 2024 Your Life and CF report showed that 39% of people with CF find it harder to breathe, and cough more, when they have been exposed to higher pollution levels.
"We are calling on the Government to implement an early warning system to ensure those with respiratory conditions like CF can receive a warning when there are dangerous levels of pollution. We won’t stop until everyone affected by CF can live a life unlimited."
