Cystic Fibrosis Trust reacts to Lord Darzi's report

David Ramsden, Chief Executive of Cystic Fibrosis Trust, said: “Lord Darzi’s investigation into the NHS importantly highlights the challenges affecting the public, and we know that many of them will be very familiar to those living with cystic fibrosis. Critically, the shortage of healthcare staff, especially in mental health services, aligns with our findings that some CF centres lack a specialist clinical psychologist despite it being a necessary part of CF care. These gaps can significantly impact the health and wellbeing of those with the condition.

"We’re pleased the report calls for more investment in developing new treatments and technologies, especially in areas like diagnostics and antibiotics. And, through the UK CF Syndicate, we’re already supporting work to create new treatments that help manage lung infections, which is vital for improving the quality of life for those with CF.

"As the NHS plans for the future, Cystic Fibrosis Trust is committed to ensuring the needs of our community are front and centre in any new strategy. We look forward to being part of a 10-year plan that will address these urgent challenges and improve care for people with CF."
