Cystic Fibrosis Trust responds to announcement to scrap VAT on household electricity bills
The decision to remove VAT from household electricity bills will help provide some relief for people with cystic fibrosis (CF), who often face significantly higher energy costs simply to stay well.
Alice Billin, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at Cystic Fibrosis Trust
From running essential medical equipment, to washing and sterilising equipment, maintaining a warm home to protect lung health, and storing medications safely, higher electricity use is often a medical necessity rather than a choice.
For four years in a row our data shows 1 in 3 people with CF are forced to make impossible choices between keeping their homes warm and putting food on the table. We urge the Government to build on this announcement with wider action to ensure no one has to make these decisions, and protect the health of people with CF.
