Lifeline
It’s because of people like you that the Helpline is there when people with CF need it most.
For many, our Helpline is a lifeline – especially when CF is just one of the challenges they’re facing. Emotional and physical health are intertwined, and people who contact the Helpline are often at their most vulnerable.
No one should have to struggle alone. We’re here for people who don’t know who to turn to, offering support with financial issues, answering questions from parents about their child’s diagnosis, helping connect people with peer support, and so much more.
The Helpline is a vital lifeline and gateway to specialist support – but it can only run with your generosity.
Will you donate today to help keep it running?
George’s story*
I still vividly remember the first time I called the Trust’s Helpline. It was the beginning of 2020, and everything that could go wrong had.
My health had declined so badly that I’d had to stop work as a teacher. On top of that, I’d recently lost my mother, who had been so involved in my care. I was physically and emotionally exhausted.
It’s because of people like you that the Helpline is available for people with CF. When I called, it was the first step on a journey where the team at the Trust came together, then stuck with me through thick and thin.
On that first call the Helpline became a lifeline. They referred me on to Sangeeta, the Trust’s Welfare and Rights Advisor.
Because I wasn’t working, things were a disaster financially. Sangeeta explained how the benefits system worked. I got my PIP forms sent out and we had follow-up calls where she explained everything. It was such a relief to have that sorted.
Sangeeta helped me with Universal Credit too, which was probably the most difficult thing to apply for. If you make a mistake, it puts everything in jeopardy. I was on oxygen much of the time, which made everything more stressful. There’s no way I would have done it without her help.
Whatever someone’s question, the Trust’s support team do everything they can to help. Please donate today to keep this lifeline running.
