Jakub is a winning choice for club mascot

Five-year-old Jakub, who has cystic fibrosis (CF), proved a lucky charm when he spent a day as club mascot for Northampton Town FC, inspiring the League One side to a 3–1 win over Southend!

Club Chief Executive James Whiting invited Jakub to be mascot for a day after seeing a video Jakub’s mum Beata posted on Twitter of her son dancing.

Jakub (pictured right with big brother Michal and Northamption Town coach Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink) and Beata seized the chance to raise awareness about CF and took along a Cystic Fibrosis Trust banner they had from a recent fundraising event they had organised.

Beata said: “Jakub loved every minute of it, the staff, the players made us feel very special and welcomed.”

Bev Burnham-Jones, Head of Community Fundraising at the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, said: “I’m so glad Jakub enjoyed his day out, and even got to bring them luck as their mascot. We are very grateful to Jakub and Beata for supporting the Trust and helping raise awareness about CF, and to James Whiting for his kind invitation.”
