Response to Access to Work backlog

In response to the Access to Work Backlog statement made on 19 May 2026 by Pat McFadden, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions

Alice Billin, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at Cystic Fibrosis Trust, said: “Access to Work is essential for keeping disabled people and people with cystic fibrosis in work, which is why we’re pleased to see the Government prioritising resource for the scheme. But we also know there’s more for the Government to do.

“We need greater flexibility in employment and education, to reflect the changing nature of CF and more understanding of disability among employers and educators. We want everyone with CF to live without limits, and we will continue to support people with the condition with their career and education goals. Find out more about our Work Forwards programme here.”
