Every month, we’ll be going inside the lab to chat with some of the amazing researchers and scientists working in cystic fibrosis (CF). Today, we're talking with Yasmine. Yasmine is an early phase coordinator at Royal Brompton Hospital, where she works on genetic therapy trials.
NICE are currently evaluating the cost-effectiveness of Kaftrio, Orkambi and Symkevi. Following the committee meeting on 14 December 2023, we discuss likely next steps.
In this blog, Alice talks about changing her attitude and approach to her CF treatment as she got older and tells us about her travel and activities. Alice had made her decisions with advice from her CF team. Everyone with CF is different, and what might be possible for one person with CF may not be advised for someone else. Always speak with your CF team before making any changes to your medication. They can also support and advise you on travel plans.
Trust-funded lab-based researchers are making good progress in finding new ways to treat CF that would work for people with all forms of CF, including people who are not able to benefit from CFTR modulator medicines like Kaftrio. Some of their results were recently published, and we spoke to Dr Livia Delpiano and Dr Mike Gray to find out more.
