PANORAMIC: A study investigating new antiviral medications for early treatment of COVID-19

PANORAMIC is a UK-wide clinical study which is looking to find out which people aged over 50 years old, or 18-49 years old and clinically vulnerable, respond to new antiviral treatments for COVID-19, reducing the need for hospital admission and improving speed of recovery.



The study is open to people who have tested positive for COVID-19 through a PCR or Lateral Flow test and who have ongoing symptoms of COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status.



The first treatment being investigated is the antiviral treatment called Molnupiravir. Other antiviral treatments may be included at later stages of the study. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups; one group receives the usual NHS standard of care and the other group receives the antiviral treatment in addition to usual care. The study will look at whether the antiviral treatment is effective at preventing more severe symptoms of COVID-19 and hospitalisation.



You can participate in your own home from anywhere in the UK, as no face-to-face visits are required. Follow-up will involve answering questions each day for 1 month and after 3 and 6 months. This will be done online and/or by telephone calls with the study team.
