A trial investigating the effects of yoga for adults with cystic fibrosis on health and quality of life
Study detailsThis study aims to investigate the effect of yoga on health-related quality of life for adults with CF. It will also assess any changes in physical health (such as strength), mental health (such as anxiety) and assess the economic cost of yoga against usual care.
Participants will take part completely remotely (from home).
Participants will be randomly put into two groups. One group will complete a 12-week course of specially created online yoga classes (the intervention group) and one group will continue with their usual CF care and no yoga (the control group). In the yoga group, participants will be asked to complete two online sessions of yoga a week (one live class and one pre-recorded class) with classes being between 30-45 minutes long. Assessments will be completed via a video call at the start and end of the 12-week period and then after a further 12 weeks.
At the end of the trial, participants in the control group will be offered the 12-week yoga course, which they can complete independently outside of the study if they wish to.
