High praise indeed

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust's 'new diagnosis' film praised at the BMA Patient Information Awards.

The Trust’s Information and Support Team have been highly commended by the British Medical Association Patient Information Awards (PIAs) for the ‘new diagnosis’ film, a part of the Trust’s new parent pack.

The PIAs encourage excellence in patient information, and materials have to be accessible, well-designed and clinically balanced to be considered. The Trust was shortlisted for the overall PIA, and the booklet element of the ‘parent information pack’ was also commended.

'A tremendous support'

A reviewer on the night said: “The documents themselves are excellent. I feel they would be a tremendous support for parents of babies newly diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, as they give a very honest and positive view of what is in store… This is a beautifully produced and well-prepared booklet and supporting documents. It is good that they can be accessed and seen via the website, and of course there is lots more information there to help and support people with cystic fibrosis.”

Michelle Rostant-Bell, Information Manager at the Trust, said: “This pack is the product of collaborative working between parents, the Trust, external design and film agencies and clinicians – all with a common goal of supporting families affected by a diagnosis of cystic fibrosis. It’s lovely to have the BMA commendations, but the best award is knowing that the pack is supportive and helpful to families at a very difficult time.”

Get your own new parent pack

A diagnosis of CF can be difficult, and through the pack, which contains a booklet about CF and useful information from families in the same situation, we are making things easier for parents to find out what a CF diagnosis means for them.

You can send off for your own new parent pack or download a PDF version. If you are a friend or relative of someone whose child has just received a CF diagnosis, you can also download the friends and family guide.

Thanks to your donations we are able to provide the CF community with vital resources like our new parent pack.
