June Media Roundup

News -

This month, our dedicated supporters joined us in raising awareness of cystic fibrosis for CF Week, and continue to take on fundraising challenges for the Trust.

Ballet stars dance in yellow

To mark CF Week, from 9th-15th June, ballet school, Babyballet, held a Dancing in Yellow week. The children swapped their tutus to dance and sing in yellow outfits, raising over £300 for the Trust.

The fundraiser was in honour of one of their baby ballet stars, Dorothy, who has cystic fibrosis (CF). Her mother Miss Jennifer, is the school Principal and thought it would be a great way to get in involved and raise awareness for CF week.

Jennifer said: “Oh my goodness, what a way to put the FUN into fundraising! our little stars have looked so beautiful in their yellow outfits this week.”

“This really is a charity very close to our hearts, and the amount raised will really make a great difference.”

The Trust would like to say a huge Thank You to everyone who fundraised or supported CF Week!

Total Warrior challenge

Our incredible supporters took on a ‘Total Warrior’ assault course, braving many obstacles along the way to raise funds for the Trust. The family from Hull, were motivated to complete the challenge as their two-year-old daughter Charley-Sue, has cystic fibrosis.

Melissa, Charley-Sue’s mum, said that her daughter has been taking Kaftrio and is doing really well, but they know that not everyone can take this medicine and that inspired her family to fundraise for the Trust.

Melissa was in Hull Live and spoke about training for the challenge. She said: "Obviously, it has been hard and you have got to do everything: endurance training, strength training, a little bit of everything.”

21 miles swim for CF

Shanique, whose young son Thiago has CF, was in the Chronicle & Echo talking about her family’s upcoming fundraiser for the Trust. Shanique’s mother and aunt are planning to take on the challenge of swimming 21 miles, to achieve this huge goal they will both swim 1,932 lengths of the pool.

The family also held a fundraiser last year raising over £1,000 for the Trust, and are hoping that the community will generously support again this year.

Shanique said: “It would mean everything to us. The charity has become our whole world and we didn’t even know about it beforehand. Their research impacts us big time.”
