"Lissy has had 19 years of this, and I want more for my daughter"
What are you looking forward to this Christmas? For many, it’s the time people look forward to the most – full of family gatherings, traditions and celebration. For others, it can be full of anxiety.
For my daughter Lissy, who has CF, we have to weigh up every invitation carefully and avoid crowded indoor places. Her mental health really suffers at this time of year.
When Lissy was nine, she spent three weeks in hospital with a serious M. abscessus infection before making it home for Christmas Day. This year, she worries it might be the one she spends in hospital instead.
Lissy has had 19 years of this. I want more than this for my daughter. The only thing that will change her life – and take away the worry we both feel – is research.
By making a donation this Christmas, you could help fund research like Professor Andres Floto’s. His work aims to develop new treatments for the lung infections that can ruin Christmas for people with CF.
The current drugs we have to treat M. abscessus infections aren’t very good, sadly treatment failure is very common. That’s why I’m so motivated to develop new treatments, change the way we create antibiotics, and to discover better ways to use existing ones.

I want Christmas for Lissy, and everyone with CF, to be just like it is for everyone else. Please donate to help fund vital CF research and help turn worry into wonder this Christmas time.
Turn worries into wonder
For people with cystic fibrosis the festive season can be the most worrying time of the year. Together, we can change that.
