New podcast episode explores managing finances and cystic fibrosis
Energy bills, fuel and food have all gone up in price over the past few years and for many people, with or without cystic fibrosis, it can be an additional burden of pressure on your shoulders.
Having CF means we often need to spend more on food as we maintain the right amount of calories to keep our weight in a good position. When it is cooler, it is also important that we keep warm, so may need the heating on more.
In this episode, I chat to Rachel Moore, who is the Welfare Officer at Cystic Fibrosis Trust, and Rachel answers these questions that are asked so frequently by the CF community. We discuss ways to reduce household bills without sacrificing essentials, best ways to budget and what to do if you are struggling with debt. We also talk about the feelings and emotions that often attach themselves to managing finances, such as feeling anxious and overwhelmed when dealing with money.
Rachel also gives suggestions about where to get help and advice and how Cystic Fibrosis Trust’s Helpline can support too.
What I really took away from our conversation is how everyone up and down the country will be feeling the same, but how, thanks to Cystic Fibrosis Trust, we have people like Rachel who are able to tailor that advice to suit us as people living with CF.
