We’ve answered some key questions below to help you decide if you’d like to register. You can find all the details about the workshops, including dates, locations, and how to register, on GOV.UK.
What is the Timms Review?
The Timms Review is an independent review of the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) disability benefit. The Government says the review will help ensure PIP is fair and fit for the future.
What are the Timms Review shaping recommendations workshops?
These workshops, organised by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), are an opportunity for disabled people and people with long-term health conditions to discuss the Timms Review’s recommendations and suggest how they could be improved.
The Review has already heard from thousands of people about what the PIP process is currently like, including our own report. For that reason, the workshops will focus on what the Review is recommending about how the PIP process could be improved, rather than identifying problems with the current PIP system.
Who are the workshops for?
The workshops are primarily for disabled people and people with long-term health conditions, particularly those who have experience of the PIP process.
When do I need to register by?
Registrations close at 5pm on Friday 21 August 2026.
What if I need reasonable adjustments to take part?
You can tell the Review about any reasonable adjustments you need when you register, including if you would prefer to attend online. If you are selected, the team will contact you to discuss your requirements.
If you have CF and attend an in-person workshop, you should tell the Review that you cannot attend with another person with CF because of the risk of cross-infection.
Where and when are the workshops taking place?
There are 15 workshops across the UK during September and October 2026. Some are in person and some are online. Each workshop will run from 10am to 4pm, with regular breaks, and will have a maximum of 20 attendees.
Will I be paid for taking part?
Yes. The Review says people who attend a full workshop will receive a one-off payment, although we do not yet know how much this will be. Reasonable travel costs and other necessary expenses will also be reimbursed for people attending in a personal capacity.
Could the payment affect my benefits?
Potentially. The Review says the payment will be treated as earnings, so it could affect your benefit entitlement depending on your circumstances.
If you receive means-tested benefits, you should check how the payment could affect you before taking part. You can also participate in the workshop without the payment or ask for a lower amount to be given.

If you are selected to take part in a workshop, please get in touch with us at [email protected].
We encourage people with CF who have experience of PIP to consider registering. This is an opportunity to make sure the experiences of people with CF are represented as the Government develops its recommendations for the future of PIP.
