We're back with Season 4 of our podcast CForYourself

Blog -

Our podcast host Lucy Baxter, who has cystic fibrosis herself, is recording the next season of Cystic Fibrosis Trust’s podcast, CForYourself. For each episode she’ll be writing an accompanying blog relating to the topic discussed. This month is all about celebrating #TeamCF – our community of supporters who go above and beyond to make a difference for people with CF.

Well, it certainly is good to be back and I cannot believe we are into our fourth season of the podcast!

For the last four seasons, I’ve been talking to lots of different people from the CF community and also experts and medical professionals to discuss what is happening in the world of CF. It truly is an honour giving people the platform to share their stories and I know it really makes a difference to the listeners.

For season four, we are kicking off by talking all about fundraising and #TeamCF. On the podcast, I chat to Colleen, who’s young son Ewan has CF. Colleen and all her family and friends fundraise in lots of different ways – from running the Great North Run, to selling unwanted clothes and items on various second-hand selling platforms. It was clear to hear the passion and drive from Team Ewan to make a difference for all those living with CF.

Also on the podcast, I chatted to Jamie who is 40-years-old and has cystic fibrosis. He has run many London Marathons, and even done an ironman challenge! He has many more exhilarating and adventurous fundraising ideas in the pipeline. Jamie shares how when he was younger, he never would have thought he’d have been alive today. But thanks to advancements in medication and treatment, which have come about due to fundraising, he is now able to enjoy life without fear. He talks about pushing himself to run because he wants to be able to do it while he can. Stay tuned for lots of motivational tips and words from Jamie on the podcast.

I love hearing what other people with CF have to say, as we all have different experiences and due to cross-infection, we cannot meet in person. Jamie said that he doesn’t fundraise for himself, but for the next generation, like Ewan, so they don’t have to go through the pain that he went through when he was younger.

Finally, Dannii from the fundraising team at the Trust talks about ways to get involved with #TeamCF in 2026.

I was really struck by the fact that anyone can fundraise in their own way – it doesn’t need to be a big run or extreme adventure, it can be a cake sale or charity raffle. Not everyone is a runner (like me), but there are plenty of ways to get involved with Team CF.

My family and I have also been fundraising ever since I was diagnosed with CF at around two-years-old. Starting off with my dad, uncle and various other men shaving their heads (with my dad’s hair never growing back properly – or so he says), to half-marathons, charity balls and a few other crazy ideas through the years.

It is great to raise large amounts of money, but even just £1 or 50p makes a significant difference, and when combined with all the fundraising efforts for Cystic Fibrosis Trust across the whole UK, really helps us on our way to making sure everyone with CF can live a life unlimited.
