Supporting clinicians

As part of our commitment to ensuring access to high quality care, we encourage health professionals to follow a career in cystic fibrosis. Take a look at the programmes and resources that we have developed for CF clinicians.

We want to make a career in cystic fibrosis care attractive for doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, dietitians and psychologists. Working with other organisations, in particular the British Thoracic Society, we are striving to increase the number of people working in CF care.

We are also keen to share good practice where we see it. Our Quality Improvement programme of work is helping us to do just that, alongside our annual medical conferences and other events.

  • Resources for clinicians

We have created a number of resources for clinicians, including:

    • Advance care planning resources - We have created an advance care planning form for people with CF to fill in with the help of their families of clinicians, and advance care planning guidance to support clinicians to help people with CF as they fill in this form.
    • Physiotherapy leaflets - We are producing a series of physiotherapy leaflets with the help of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Cystic Fibrosis (ACPCF).
    • Nutrition leaflets - We are producing a series of nutrition leaflets with the help of dietitians from the Cystic Fibrosis Dietitian Group UK (CFDGUK).

  • Fellowships

Our fellowship programmes support clinicians in their career development.

The Clinical Training Fellowship Programme provides adult specialist CF centres with a one-year grant to train adult physicians in the management of cystic fibrosis.

The Physiotherapy Fellowship aims to give physiotherapists the training and experience required to develop a fruitful career specialising in cystic fibrosis care.
