Strong Beginnings

Find out more about our events for parents and carers of babies and young children with CF.

Strong Beginnings is a series of free online events for parents and carers of babies and young children with CF (aged up to 6 years).  Find out more about how you can get involved!

These online events are an opportunity for families with young children aged 0 to 6 with CF to connect with each other, in a supportive and understanding environment.  We use the video calling platform Zoom to bring you together safely, and from the comfort of your own home.

This is a new area for us, so we are really interested to hear what you think of the events and would love to hear from you if you have any ideas for events to run in the future.  Please email [email protected] with any questions, suggestions or to find out more and sign up!

Ask YAG

In March 2024 we held a special Strong Beginnings event. Young people from our Youth Advisory Group kindly gave their time to answer questions sent in by parents of children with CF.

Coming up

Baby massage

25 April, 2 and 9 May 10am-10.45am – Baby massage for parents and babies with CF who haven't yet started crawling.

A series of short workshops where an experienced baby-massage facilitator will unlock the magic of baby zen!

The classes will focus on parent-baby bonding, relaxation and boosting parents’ confidence in caring for their baby.

Tree of Life: Peer support

11 and 18 March at 7:30pm – Tree of Life: peer support for parents and carers of children with CF aged 1–3.

When CF arrives in your life, it can bring many challenges that disconnect you from your unique and beautiful experiences, skills and abilities. The Tree of Life group is a creative way of reconnecting you with your identity and sense of who you are as a parent.

In the first session, we will each draw our Tree of Life (don’t worry – no artistic skills are required). Your tree will represent your values, experiences, skills, knowledge, hopes and dreams, support networks, and gifts.

Our second session will explore some challenges and how you can cope with change. There will be space to learn from others and your ideas.

A parent who came to the last session said: “We are constantly on a treadmill and I didn’t realise how much I needed the emotional support. Last week we were both laughing after the session and we realised that we both felt lighter.”

Spaces are limited!  If you'd like to sign up or find out more, then get in touch with us at [email protected].  You can also keep up to date at @CFtrustyouth on Instagram.

Pre-school and primary school

Starting pre-school or primary school can be an exciting and daunting time for parents, particularly if your child has cystic fibrosis (CF).

What is CF?

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition affecting around 11,000 people in the UK.
