Making exercise fun for children with CF - with a little help from some celebrity guests!
Special celebrity guests, including singer Mel C, Paralympian Ade Adepitan, and Strictly star Oti Mabuse, have filmed a series of exercise videos for children with CF, with the aim of making fitness fun.
The videos were filmed as part of our exciting appearance on The One Show last year. In November 2021, our Building Brighter Futures programme was featured on the BBC show as part of the 2021 Children in Need appeal.
Building Brighter Futures is funded by BBC Children in Need and is a programme of online events, workshops and social activities for children with CF and their brothers and sisters aged 6-18. It’s a chance for young people to come together online, make friends, build confidence and learn new skills – from baking to gaming.
The Surprise Squad was a new feature on The One Show in 2021, featuring a group of inspirational young people who have been supported by Children in Need travelling around the country ‘giving back’ and helping out other charities who receive Children in Need funding - and we were lucky enough to be one of those charities!
The Surprise Squad set themselves the challenge of making exercise fun for children with CF, with a bit of help from some celebrity guests. These videos formed part of a live online event, which around 50 children with cystic fibrosis attended.
A big thank you to The One Show, BBC Children in Need and all of the incredible celebrities who gave up their time to get involved.
