How we can unite together this CF Week
As we approach CF Week, I want to thank everyone in the community for coming together and uniting with us at this special point in the year.
At the Trust, we want everyone with cystic fibrosis to be physically well, mentally well and able to reach their full potential in a world that understands their needs and supports them in overcoming challenges.
Life with CF can be tough, unpredictable and limiting. But our community has shown that when it unites it becomes unstoppable. It is thanks to you that we can continue to advocate for improved care, offer information and support to help the CF community and fund vital research to create essential new treatments that work for everyone.
Thank you for speaking out, for sharing your stories – your truths, and for helping us open up conversations about what it’s like to live with a life-long and life-limiting condition.
The last few years have been a period of rapid change for many people with CF and we will do all we can to ensure that continues for everyone in the years ahead.
We are in a time where there will be more people living with CF in the UK than ever before. For many, lives are getting longer and healthier. More young people will be completing education with the prospect of many years of employment. However, we know that some people with CF currently don’t have the imminent prospect of life changing treatments and for some the drugs don’t do what they hoped for. This means that we are facing a future where the community’s health, treatment and support needs will become more diverse and complex.
As the only UK-wide organisation dedicated to supporting and advocating for people with CF, we know that the Trust has a vital role to play in driving forward positive change.
That's why CF week 2023 is all about celebrating the incredible progress we’ve already made in CF research, and looking forward to the breakthroughs we can make in the future. Together as one united community.
Throughout the week, we will be going inside the lab with some of our amazing researchers, hosting an Instagram Live with Dr Lucy Allen focusing on your research priorities, holding a CF Live on genetic therapies, and sharing an extra special episode of our CForYourself Podcast.
We will also be raising awareness of CF on our social media channels and sharing your stories of life with cystic fibrosis: the ups, downs and everything in between.
We want every person with cystic fibrosis to live a long and full life, but to get there we will need all your support. Whether it's family. Friends. Doctors and nurses. Physios, dietitians, psychologists, social workers, scientists and researchers. Supporters. Campaigners. Volunteers. You!
Thank you again for uniting with us this CF Week, and remember to join us for Wear Yellow Day on Friday 16 June!
Together, we will make sure everybody with CF can live without limits. Imagine what could be possible if we unite together.
