YAG member wins BBC award

Michal, Jakub and their mum

Michal, who is a member of the Trust’s Youth Advisory Group, YAG, won BBC Radio’s Make a Difference Young Hero award. This award is given to people who make life better for people in their community.

Michal’s younger brother, Jakub, has cystic fibrosis (CF), and the award was in recognition of "his kindness, resilience, and dedication" to Jakub.

The brothers were featured on the BBC, and appeared on BBC radio. Ed Sheeran was also a guest on the show, and he surprised Jakub by gifting him a guitar after he spoke about being a keen musician with a passion for music.

Congratulations to Michal and we hope Jakub enjoys playing his new guitar!

80th Birthday skydive for cystic fibrosis

Shelagh and Nick with his daughter

Shelagh, celebrated her 80th birthday this year, and decided to mark the milestone with an incredible skydive to raise money for the Trust.

Shelagh was inspired to take on the huge challenge for her late friend’s granddaughter, Xanthe, who has CF. Xanthe’s father, Nick, also took part and joined Shelagh on the skydive.

Nick said, “When your late mother’s best friend says she’s going to celebrate her 80th birthday by doing a skydive for Cystic Fibrosis Trust and do I know anybody that might like to join her, I knew I was jumping out of that plane.”

"She has been an amazing support to our family, and I’m very grateful for what she is doing.”

Shelagh said “Doing something worthwhile and getting a thrill, it’s not something you get to do every day.”
